DERSec Sentry

Network visibility shows you commands. It cannot tell you if those commands are operationally safe.
DERSec verifies protocol behavior against physical reality. DERSec monitors DER assets and verifies that protocol commands align with physical constraints. A solar inverter receiving a reactive power setpoint, a battery responding to a charge command — each action can be protocol-valid but operationally dangerous. DERSec answers that question.

Volt/Var Manipulation

Detects reactive power setpoints that degrade voltage stability.

Frequency Disturbances

Identifies active power commands that threaten grid frequency.

Active Power Abuse

Spots coordinated manipulation across distributed assets.

Nameplate Falsification

Catches misreported capabilities that enable stealth attacks.

DERSync Protocol Gateway

Secure IEEE 2030.5 aggregation with multi-protocol architecture — available as Cloud or Edge deployment to match your fleet.
DERSync is a protocol gateway that aggregates distributed energy resources using IEEE 2030.5. It bridges upstream connections to DERMS and VPP platforms with downstream connections to DERs across SunSpec Modbus, DNP3, IEEE 2030.5, and proprietary protocols — all through a unified multi-protocol architecture.

Secure Onboarding

PKI-based device authentication, automated certificate provisioning, TLS 1.3.

Protocol Translation

SunSpec Modbus, DNP3, and proprietary protocols to IEEE 2030.5.

Utility Programs

Demand response, VPP participation, frequency regulation, voltage support.

Continuous Monitoring

Real-time telemetry, compliance verification, anomaly detection.

Cloud Deployment

Purpose-built for managing large fleets of residential and small commercial DERs — solar inverters, home batteries, EV chargers, and smart thermostats. Cloud DERSync handles thousands of assets with centralized certificate management, automated onboarding, and elastic scaling.

  • Multi-protocol upstream: IEEE 2030.5, OpenADR, REST APIs to any DERMS or VPP platform
  • Multi-protocol downstream: SunSpec Modbus, DNP3, IEEE 2030.5, manufacturer APIs
  • Fleet-scale PKI: Automated certificate provisioning for 10,000+ devices
  • Elastic aggregation: Auto-scales with fleet growth, no hardware to manage

Edge Deployment

Designed for larger assets — commercial & industrial (C&I) solar+storage, grid-scale battery systems, and microgrid controllers. Edge DERSync runs on-site, enabling an EMS Gateway that executes optimization algorithms locally with sub-second latency for real-time dispatch and control.

  • Multi-protocol upstream: IEEE 2030.5, DNP3, ICCP to utility DERMS or ISO/RTO markets
  • Multi-protocol downstream: Modbus TCP/RTU, SunSpec, CAN bus, proprietary inverter APIs
  • EMS Gateway mode: Run optimization algorithms on-site for peak shaving, arbitrage, demand charge management
  • Low-latency control: Sub-second response for frequency regulation and voltage support

DERSim Digital Twins

Validate security controls and simulate attacks on digital twins, not live infrastructure. From lab to field in days, not months.DERSim creates high-fidelity digital twins of your DER assets for pre-deployment testing and validation. Test configurations, simulate attacks, and validate security controls — all without touching production systems.

Simulation & Validation Capabilities

High-fidelity digital twins for pre-deployment testing — validate security controls and simulate attacks without touching production systems.

Physics-Based Modeling

Virtual replicas of inverters, batteries, loads, and grid connections.

Protocol Simulation

Identifies active power commands that threaten garid frequency.

Attack Scenarios

Volt/var manipulation, frequency attacks, coordinated threats.

Validation

Verify security controls, test incident response, validate compliance.

DERSec LabTest Pro

DER Security (DERSec) LabTest is the world’s most capable DER certification tool. The software provides power performance
and interoperability spot checks, scripting operations, and fully automated end-to-end tests for IEEE 1547.1, UL 1741 SB, and
other interconnection standards.

LabTest Pro software automates the certification procedure by communicating with laboratory hardware through Ethernet,
serial, or GPIB programmatic interfaces. Generally, laboratory setups include a DC power supply, AC grid simulator, data
acquisition system (DAQ), and the Equipment Under Test (EUT). With this equipment, test sequences are executed based
on the standard requirements, log data is captured, and the results are processed to assess the pass/fail performance of the EUT.

Local Monitoring

Protocol inspection for IEEE 2030.5, SunSpec Modbus, DNP3, OCPP at the source.

Edge AI/ML

Local anomaly detection without relying on cloud for real-time analysis.

Offline Operation

Continues monitoring during outages; syncs data when connectivity returns.

Secure Connectivity

TLS 1.3 encrypted tunnel to the DERSec cloud platform.
